Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a disorder of the mind which compels persons affected with it to be repetitive in their actions. This is brought on by unwanted thoughts which literally force them into doing things over and over again regardless of whether they want to do it or not. These actions are not for any major activities initially, but small things like washing of hands, checking to see whether the gas has been turned off, checking electrical gadgets to see if they have been switched off, counting and obsessive cleaning are some of the actions which are repetitive. Most of the actions become ritualistic and once there is a set pattern the person cannot deviate from them and has to compulsively follow the same order every time that chore is being done. If they do not go about the complete ritual they become anxious.

The main problem with their thoughts are that they are filled with doubts even after completing a task and are not sure whether they have done it properly or not and this means they have to keep on checking on it and doing the same thing over and over again.
